Cars

In this section you can find information about the RC cars that I own or owned. More details of the cars can be found on the separate pages which you can find in the menu or by clicking the links here.

It all started with the Marui Ninja 4WD, which is a 1/10 scale 4WD buggy which I purchased in 1986. The reason that I bought it was because it was relatively cheap. It came in parts, so I had to assemble it completely. A good way to know how your car works in detail.

Roughly 25 years later, it sort of started all over again when I found the Traxxas Bandit XL-5. It was affordable and I liked that it came as an RTR car. At the same time the son of my girlfriend got a Rustler XL-5. Not the best cars on the market, but certainly not the worst either. We had tons of fun together driving mostly in front of the house and around the corner.

A few months later I wanted something 4WD again and since I loved it looks, I bought a Traxxas Mini E-Revo VXL.

Another few months later my buddy bought a Traxxas Stampede VXL 2WD. He tried it for about an hour and told me that he was going to sell it because he got sick of the wheelies. A disadvantage of his digital throttle finger. I bought it from him for a nice price.

After having quite some fun with driving and upgrading it, I wanted its 4WD brother. So I bought the Stampede 4×4 VXL as a roller and took the most important parts (ESC, motor, servo, receiver and two wheels) from the 2WD Pede to make it complete. So I never drove this one all stock. From the beginning it had a Castle Mamba Max Pro paired with the 2400Kv Castle 1415 series motor on board. Since I bought it, it has been my favorite car.

After all the off road cars, which I drove on hard surfaces anyhow, it was time for an on road car. I have always liked the looks of the Mustang and due to the good experiences with Traxxas, the choice for the 1/16 Boss 302 Ford Mustang VXL was easy. I bought this one also as a roller, because I had a VXL-3m combo on the shelf after I upgraded the combo in my Merv. Not the best drifter, but good enough to play around on the asphalt square one block away from here.

Since I’m typically a dry weather driver, and my cars were either too large and/or too fast to use inside the house, bad weather always prevented me to drive them. Time to look out for something that could be used indoors. I heard good things about Losi cars, so I thought to give the 1/24 Micro Brushless SCT one a try.
